Cookies policy.
We use the minimum to make the site work. No advertising cookies, no third-party trackers, no surveillance pixels. Last refreshed June 2026.
1. What's a cookie?
A small text file your browser stores so the website can remember a tiny thing between page loads — e.g. that you've already dismissed the banner. They don't run code, they don't see your photos, and they don't leak between sites unless someone deliberately wires them up to do so. We haven't.
2. What we use
Two cookies, both first-party (set by us, only readable by us):
- mm_session — lets you submit the contact form without your text reappearing if the page bounces. Lives until you close the tab.
- mm_seen_banner — remembers you've dismissed the cookies banner so you don't see it twice. Lives 6 months.
3. What we don't use
- No advertising cookies. We don't advertise online.
- No third-party analytics that follow you off the site. (Plausible counts the page hit, but doesn't drop a cookie or read one — explained below.)
- No retargeting pixels. No Meta pixel, no Google ads tag, no LinkedIn insight tag, none of the rest.
4. Analytics, briefly
We use a privacy-friendly counter (Plausible) to see how many people open the site and which pages they read. It doesn't store anything on your device. It anonymises your IP before counting. It doesn't follow you off the site. You don't need to consent to it under most privacy laws, but if you'd rather not be counted, your browser's Do Not Track signal turns it off automatically.
5. Turning cookies off
Every browser lets you block cookies in settings. The Mount Mate site will work fine without them — the contact form will still submit; you'll just see the banner more than once. To clear them on your device: Settings → Privacy → Cookies / Site data, search for "mountmate", clear.
6. Changes
If we ever add a cookie, this page gets a date bump and a one-line note in the footer for a fortnight. We won't add advertising cookies; that's a permanent commitment.
