Privacy policy.
The plain-English version. What we collect when you send a snap, who sees it, how long we keep it, and what to ask us if you want any of it gone. Last refreshed June 2026.
1. Who we are
"We", "us", "Mount Mate" mean Mount Mate, a two-person installer business operating from 14 Foundry Way, NW3. We're a sole-trader-paired-with-a-co-founder setup — there's no corporate parent, no third-party data team, just Tom and Mara. Contact: hey@mountmate.online.
2. What we collect
Only what you give us in the chat thread, and only what we need to write back a price and show up at your door:
- Your name (whatever you want to be called in the chat)
- An email and/or a phone number — we reply on whichever you sent from
- The photo of the wall you sent (and any follow-up photos)
- The telly model/size and the postcode of the install
- The chat history itself — the thread is the record of the agreement
We don't ask for payment details up front. When the job's done, we send a card link or take a tap on site, and the payment processor (Stripe) handles the card data — we never see it.
3. Why we have it
To answer your message, to text back a flat price, to drive the van to the right address, and to keep a record of the agreement so the figure on the invoice matches the figure we texted. That is the whole list.
4. Legal basis
Two reasons, depending on the data:
- Contract. When you ask for a price, we need the snap and postcode to give you one — that's a pre-contract step.
- Legitimate interest. Keeping the chat thread after the job so we can answer warranty questions for twelve months.
5. Who sees it
Tom and Mara. That's the list. We don't sell, rent, swap, or hand over your details to marketers, lead-aggregators, "directory" companies, franchisors, or anyone else with a clipboard.
The small handful of services we use to run the business — our email host, our SMS provider, Stripe for card payments — each see the slice of data they need to do their bit, and nothing more. None of them are based outside standard data-protected regions.
6. How long we keep it
- Chat thread + photos: 12 months after the job, then deleted, so we can honour the workmanship warranty.
- Invoices: 6 years, because tax law says so.
- Snaps where we didn't end up doing the job: 60 days, then gone.
7. Your rights
The standard set. Email hey@mountmate.online and ask for any of these — we'll usually answer the same day, max within 30 days:
- A copy of what we hold about you
- Corrections, if something's wrong
- Deletion (where we're not required to keep it by law)
- To opt out of any analytics cookies
8. Cookies & analytics
One first-party cookie for the site itself, and a privacy-friendly counter for traffic. Full breakdown on the cookies page.
9. Changes
If this policy ever changes, we update the date at the top and post a one-line note in the footer for a fortnight. If the change is anything bigger than a typo, we'll send an email to anyone with an active chat thread.
