The framework underneath the Mount Mate guide. Eleven short sections covering content use, comments, what the guide is and isn't, payment (where applicable), warranty on the advice, and what happens if either of us doesn't keep their end. Last refreshed July 2026.
1. The agreement
These terms apply whenever you read the guide or send us a question. Using mountmate.online counts as accepting them; you don't need to sign anything separately. We agree to publish the guide as described, and you agree to use it as a personal reference rather than re-publishing it as your own.
2. The free guide
The full set of chapters on this site is free to read, share, and link to. You can quote short passages anywhere as long as you credit Mount Mate and link back to the chapter. You can't re-publish a whole chapter on another site as if it were yours, sell the content, or use it to train a commercial AI model without permission.
If you want to use the guide for an educational programme, a community workshop, or a translation, write to us — we say yes more often than not.
3. Replies to questions
When you send a question, we aim to reply inside 24 hours. We answer most inside 6 hours. If your question reveals a gap in the guide, it sometimes turns into a new chapter — we'll always ask before quoting you, and we credit first name + initial only with your permission.
4. What we expect from you
- Treat comments and replies politely — the guide is read by a lot of beginners
- Don't post spam, affiliate links, or "buy from me" plugs in the comments
- Don't ask us to debug a job you've half-paid an installer to do (talk to them)
- Use the advice as a guide, not as substitute for a structural engineer where one is needed
5. Paid extras (if/when)
The web guide is and stays free. We occasionally release printable chapter packs and a downloadable bracket-spec PDF — those are sold at cost. Payment is handled by Stripe and the refund policy lives on the refunds page.
6. Accuracy & updates
Every chapter is dated and refreshed at least every 18 months. If you spot something out of date or wrong, email and we'll fix it inside two weeks — we'd rather hear it from you than leave bad advice up.
That said: the guide is generic. Your wall is specific. Where a chapter says "stop and call a professional", do.
7. Account & comments removal
If you've left comments and want them gone, email us — we'll remove them, usually inside 48 hours. If we ever roll out logged-in accounts for the printable extras, you can delete your account from the dashboard, and the data goes with it.
8. Liability
The guide is published as honestly and carefully as we can manage, but we can't see your wall, your wiring, or your specific telly. To the maximum extent allowed by law, we are not liable for damage to property, screens, or fittings arising from following the guide — you are doing your own install and you are responsible for the outcome.
None of this limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for anything else that can't be limited under law. If you are unsure whether your situation is safe, stop and get a qualified person to look at it.
9. Your consumer rights
None of these terms reduce the statutory rights you have as a consumer in your jurisdiction. If anything in here looks like it does, treat it as if it doesn't.
10. Data
How we use what you send is covered in the privacy policy and cookies policy. Short version: we use it to answer your question, then we delete it.
11. Law & disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction we operate from. If something goes wrong, email us first — most things we can sort in a thread. If that fails, we'll suggest mediation. After that, courts.
